College, Career, and Academic Counseling
NHCS students are given opportunities to help prepare them for success in college and beyond. Students are given academic as well as college and career counseling. NHCS families are provided help and resources when planning/preparing for student life after high school.
Academic Counseling
NHCS School Counselor will advise, assist, and monitor student progress through each school year. This is done through:
- Academic advisement meetings at the end of the previous school year (returning students) or start of the current one (new students)
- Monitoring of course grades throughout the school year and meeting regularly with students
- Monitoring that graduation requirements are being met
- Facilitating parent/student/teacher conferences (if needed)
College and Career Counseling
NHCS School Counselor assists students with college applications and career exploration through:
- Administering the PSAT free of charge to students in 9th-11th grade
- College application “Help” sessions
- College visits
- Career surveys
- Assisting with scholarship applications
Grand Canyon University: Canyon Christian Schools Consortium (CCSC) Academic Scholarship
Students graduating from a Canyon Christian Schools Consortium (CCSC) member high school may be eligible to receive up to $4,000 in additional GCU academic scholarships per year. Further, this academic scholarship is awarded for each year a CCSC member high school was attended, which could total up to $16,000 toward college tuition over the course of four years.
NHCS Alumni have been accepted to UC, Cal State, and Private Schools throughout the United States as well as Community Colleges.
